Originally I went to Best Buy to pick up a HD Mino so I could study hard and location "between racks" skyrocket photograph of my business. The employee I talked to handed me saying "does not come out for a week, but its cheaper than the Mino is on sale. Went a no-brainer for me to collect.
Its a nice little unit, compact, fits in back pocket, if necessary, and the controls are very basic – da click in big red button to record. Click the big red button again to stop giving. Simplicity at its best.
I love that The unit has a built-in USB port on the right, but still use a USB extension because I'm using an iMac, and since end you upside down, I will not add Tooth USB stress.
I have not used the built-in editing software, as I'm importing my files into iMovie and edit it.
Quality wise, I'd say it's pretty good given its damn about the size of a box of candy Valentine Necco candy hearts. However, I must insist that is to be used as a stationary "fixed" the objective, and not use the digital zoom. Once you use the digital zoom, quality, like * any * zoom digital suffered greatly. To avoid this, I hit a super-step down the ring to the front of my Ultra HD to screw a wide angle and telephoto. If you do not mind-ing of Frankenstein Ultra HD, then go for it.
I have not done much low light shooting with him, but I feel that I could get a bit noisy grainy. I'll see more short-term results when I start using this in the studio.
I will be mainly with my Ultra HD recording on a tripod behind the scenes images from my photography sessions, so I'll have a way to keep the camera static and not moving enough.
In general, I feel this is largely the value of $ 199 I paid. Remember, this is a small device with a tiny sensor small in it, so the quality will not be as good as a larger video camera dedicated, or a new digital SLR with built in high definition. Apples and oranges.
With a little extra money and some super-glue, you can get more range and wide angle of the unit.
[...] Great little unit. I will not go this waiting for a hen that lays golden eggs. As is, it does well. Recommended.
